10. OPERATION TORCH

The USS RANGER was the lead carrier in OPERATION TORCH, which began November 8, 1942. OPERATION TORCH was an invasion of French North Africa. During the four days she participated in the operation, the RANGER launched over 450 combat sorties, attacking ships and ground targets, performing intelligence surveillance, and defending the task force.
